Ebene, Friday 22 November 2024 – Intercontinental Trust Ltd (ITL) is proud to announce a double recognition at the prestigious Private Equity Africa (PEA) Awards 2024 ceremony. The company was crowned in the “Local Fund Administrator” category while Françoise Chan, Executive Director, received an individual distinction in the “Women in African Private Equity” category of the Decade Awards. These awards were presented during the Gala Dinner held on 19 November at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel.
These distinctions hold special significance for Intercontinental Trust Limited as it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Since its establishment in 1999, ITL has gradually established itself as a major player in the financial and fiduciary services in Mauritius and internationally. Over the years, the company has built its reputation on lasting trust relationships with its clients, an innovative vision of the sector, and sustained growth, demonstrating Mauritian expertise in this field. Its 25th-anniversary signature, ‘A Mauritian Legacy of Trust, Innovation & Growth’, reflects these pillars that have guided its journey.
These new accolades at the Private Equity Africa (PEA) Awards once again demonstrate ITL’s contribution to this key sector of the economy. Winners were chosen by an independent jury with support from the PEA Awards Advisory Panel. This distinction adds to the company’s previous successes, including the “Local Funds Advisor Award” in 2021 and the “Corporate Financial Advisor Award” in 2022.
“This award is a true recognition of ITL’s contribution to the financial services sector, particularly in this year when we celebrate our 25th anniversary. Since our inception, we have built a solid foundation based on values and practices that set us apart in the market. Competing with international providers, we have succeeded in attracting a diverse clientele and promoting Mauritius as a destination of choice for financial services,” states Ben Lim, Chief Executive Officer of ITL.
In addition to ITL’s victory in the ‘Local Fund Administrator’ category, Francoise Chan, Executive Director, received special recognition for her contribution to the Private Equity sector over this decade. This recognition marks an important milestone for ITL, as it is the second time that one of its management team members has received a special distinction at the PEA Awards. In 2020, Ben Lim was honoured with the “Advisor Individual Decade Award” for his contribution to the industry over the past ten years.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this special recognition in the ‘Women in African Private Equity’ category. This distinction not only reflects my personal commitment but above all the remarkable work accomplished by the entire ITL team over the years. In a traditionally male-dominated sector, this award underlines the growing importance of women in African Private Equity, and I hope it will inspire other women to pursue their ambitions in this field. I want to share this honour with all my colleagues who contribute daily to making ITL a major player in financial services in the region,” says Francoise Chan.
Founded in 1999, ITL is a Management Company licensed by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), offering a complete range of corporate, fiduciary, tax, accounting, and fund administration services to international and local clients. The company counts among its clients some of the largest renowned institutions, multinationals, leading African Private Equity firms, global Top 10 investment banks, and high-net-worth individuals.
