Digital payments platform shares weekend results
Ebene, 3 December 2024 – Peach Payments has, for the first time, released data on its Mauritius operations for the Black Friday weekend.
Total sales processed through its platform for Mauritian merchants reached an increase of a whopping 308% over the Black Friday weekend in 2023. Individual transactions grew by an astonishing 404%, albeit off a low base.
Says Rahul Jain, CEO and cofounder of Peach Payments, “Black Friday is still a new concept for online merchants in Mauritius and we are excited to see this growth. In 2023, the monetary value of Black Friday sales increased by 445% over 2022, and transactions by 512% – and this year we are seeing more merchants taking advantage of the possibility of making online payments easy for their customers.
“We are encouraged by the growth in what is still a nascent market for us. It shows the potential Mauritius has as a payments processing destination,” Jain says. “In particular, we are pleased with the growth seen in the Travel & Tourism industry on the island.”
In South Africa, Peach Payments processed more than 1.4 million transactions, to a total value of more than 3,074bn Mauritian rupees (ZAR1.19bn), over the four-day weekend.
