Aston Martin DB5 lands in Mauritius to add a touch of ‘James Bond’ to the Milestones Motor Museum

The Air Mauritius ‘Pieter Both’ flies in an Aston Martin DB5 from London Gatwick Airport to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius to feature in the Milestones Motor Museum, which is due to open its doors in late 2026.

Milestones Limited has announced the arrival in Mauritius of an Aston Martin DB5, a model which was made famous in the James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’ in 1964, and which has since remained synonymous with the 007 brand.

This iconic car, which was part of the Milestones Collection in the UK, was flown into Mauritius from London Gatwick Airport to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius by Air Mauritius on the ‘Pieter Both’ A350-900, and landed on the tarmac at 07.20 on 19 February.

The car will be part of the collection to be displayed at the Milestones Motor Museum, which is currently under construction in Beaux Songes, and which is due to open its doors to the public in late 2026. The Museum will house and display over 200 vintage and classic cars and is due to become a major tourist attraction for the island.

Milestones is owned and funded in perpetuity by the Star & Key Foundation, a Mauritian foundation. entirely funded by Terry Smith, who has donated the car collection to it and who will supervise the construction and operation of the Museum.

Speaking about the arrival of the Aston Martin DB5 in Mauritius, Terry Smith commented:

“The Aston Martin DB5 was an aristocrat amongst the 1960s Supercars, as exclusive as the Savile Row Suit, which will forever be associated with James Bond movies after its appearance in Goldfinger. This vehicle is one of only 1018 ever made. It is a truly stunning engineering masterpiece which could reach a top speed of 225 kph. I would like to warmly thank Air Mauritius for all their support, and I look forward to sharing this extraordinary vehicle with the Mauritian public next year as part of our world-class collection.”

Terry Smith is a businessman and Mauritian citizen, who has been running an international fund management business from Mauritius since 2014. Terry is committed to supporting economic growth in Mauritius, and he has also supported youth and sports in local communities since his arrival on the island.
