Mind Initiatives and Regenesis Unite to Empower Women Through Awareness
In support of the global Pink October movement, Mind Initiatives and Regenesis once again joined hands to host an impactful awareness session on breast cancer at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel on Saturday, 18 October 2025.
The one-hour session, themed “Breast Cancer: What You Don’t Know Could Save Your Life,” featured Dr. Manjula Rao, Onco Plastic Breast Surgeon from Apollo Proton Cancer Centres, who shared invaluable insights on the importance of early detection, regular screening, and the power of awareness in saving lives.
Dr. Rao highlighted how advancements in technology and treatment can make breast cancer highly treatable when detected early.
Ravin Lama, Managing Director of Mind Initiatives, emphasised the need for more open dialogue around women’s health in Mauritius, saying:
“Awareness is the first step to saving lives. Too often, fear or stigma prevents women from seeking timely help. Through initiatives like this, we want to break that silence and ensure every Mauritian woman knows that early detection is her best defence.”
Echoing this sentiment, Ms. Nusrat Munir, Managing Director of Regenesis, added:
“At Regenesis, our mission goes beyond therapy — it’s about restoring balance, confidence, and wellbeing. Partnering with Mind Initiatives for the second time reinforces our shared commitment to women’s empowerment, awareness, and preventive health. Today’s event is a reminder that together, we can make early detection a national habit.”
This was the second joint initiative by Mind Initiatives and Regenesis dedicated to women’s wellness, reflecting both organisations’ shared vision of building a healthier and more informed community.
The event concluded with a friendly finger buffet, giving participants the opportunity to interact with the speakers, share experiences, and strengthen the spirit of solidarity and sisterhood.
