The Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD) hosted, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the second edition of the “MIoD Expert Series”, an exclusive meeting bringing together leaders from the business community, built around strategic themes. Organized in collaboration with HSBC Mauritius, one of the founding members of the MIoD, this second edition had as its guest of honor, CEO and Head of Banking of HSBC Vietnam, Tim Evans.
The evening was dedicated to a central theme for boards of directors and the general directorates: “Reimagining Organizational Culture in the Age of Gen Z”. In a world where the younger generations are redefining expectations in terms of leadership, commitment, and company culture, leaders are urged to undertake a deep rethink in approaches. Vietnam has a median age of 33.4 years and a largely young working population, embodying these dynamics well, in a context that lends a particularly rich perspective to the experience shared during this meeting.
At the helm of HSBC Vietnam, Tim Evans manages the cultural evolution of a leading banking organisation daily, being at the heart of these generational changes. His testimony has helped to enable, in a concrete manner, how performance issues, inclusion, and meaning can align in an environment witnessed rapid transformation — realities that echo the Mauritius context.

In the context of the topic, the second edition of the MIoD Expert Series brought together both members of boards of directors, company managers, and human resources experts, to help enrich the reflection on the cultural transformations at work within today’s organizations.
CEO at MIoD, Sheila Ujoodha commented: « The new generations redefine progressively the benchmarks of modern leadership, working methods, and expectations towards enterprises. In a local environment already marked by talent mobility and the rapid evolution of societal aspirations, these dynamics call for a rethink of organisational and corporate governance models. Through the second edition of the MIoD Expert Series, we have opened a space for strategic dialogues to go beyond simple observations to reflect on the necessary adjustments of corporate models to these new generational dynamics. The perspectives shared by Tim Evans have enriched the reflection while at the same time recalling issues of organisational culture and sustainable performance that go beyond borders. The MIoD will continue its mission: To help the boards and their directors anticipate, adapt, and govern with relevance in a constantly changing world. »
On the other hand, the CEO and Head of Banking at HSBC Vietnam, Tim Evans shared: « In Vietnam, the majority of the active population hails from the young generation, a transformation engine which fundamentally redefines the way we lead, collaborate, and lend meaning to work. Through our experience, we have understood that cultural adaptation is not uniquely an RH project but also an entire business strategy. To share this experience with leaders and experts in Mauritius has been a real privilege. We discussed opportunities and concrete levers to align leadership, inclusion, and performance in an ever-changing world. I would like to thank the MIoD for tendering this invitation and its essential role in helping promote a substantive dialogue on the new realities of corporate governance. These discussions are necessary not only to follow the changes but to contribute proactively. »
CEO and Head of Banking, HSBC Mauritius, Hajrah Sakauloo added: « The intergenerational diversity is no longer in theory: It’s a daily reality witnessed by our teams, clients, and communities. To know how to take advantage of it calls leaders to re-examine their certainties, managerial culture, and corporate governance posture. This is the exact dynamic that we wanted to anchor through our partnership with MIoD on this second edition of the Expert Series.
Knowing how to take advantage of it calls leaders to re-examine their certainties, their managerial culture, and their corporate governance posture. This is precisely the dynamic that we wanted to anchor through our partnership with the MIoD on this second edition of the Expert Series. As a banking institution rooted in the local economic fabric, we believe in the power of strategic dialogue and the sharing of concrete experiences. Tim Evans’ intervention has made it possible to highlight two fields — Vietnam and Mauritius —distinct but marked by similar issues. I thank the MIoD for its vision and its commitment to support leaders in this essential transformation of organizational culture. »
