Ocorian unlocks potential of its people with a bespoke mentoring & coaching program

Ocorian, specialist global provider of fund administration, capital markets, corporate and fiduciary services, has launched a bespoke mentorship and coaching program designed to empower its employees in their personal and professional growth. This program offers participants a unique opportunity to receive guidance from seasoned mentors within the company, who have been trained by Dale Carnegie.

Robert Hovenier, Head of Global Client Operations and Managing Director of Ocorian Mauritius, said: “As Ocorian in Mauritius is growing, we want our people to grow too. The goal of this program, named Pathfinders, is to support and enhance our people’s leadership and professional development, providing a confidential space for discussion around topics related to career growth, institutional knowledge and development, upward mobility, and more. We aim to empower our employees to reach their full potential by connecting knowledge seekers with knowledge bearers across service lines & functions, fostering professional growth, fuelling innovation, and igniting sustainable success.”

The first cohort started in March, following a pilot program from November 2023. Two cohorts will run annually with each having 50 participants across all areas of the business. The program is designed to formalise relationships between more senior professionals (mentors) and more junior ones (mentees) seeking to learn and enhance skills that will help further their career.

Yogesh Mewa said: “It was a great experience to be exposed to the mentor knowledge and experience specially when the mentor has also faced similar challenges. Mentoring has helped me to develop my strength and confidence.”

The program includes features that are associated with successful mentorships the engagement of a mentoring team, and the use of a mentoring agreement to articulate the goals and process of the mentorship. A mentee action plan, a mentoring feedback form, as well as monthly check-ins help guide discussions and regularly adjust processes to fit participant needs.

Hasseena Arzamkhan, Regional Counsel AMEA, Legal and Governance and one of the mentors, said: “I’ve had the unique chance to take part in the pilot program and all I can say is that it was an exceptional experience. It not only provided me with a platform to share my knowledge and experience with my mentees to allow them to explore their full potential, but it was also an opportunity for me to learn from their perspectives. It was a journey of growth and self-discovery on both sides. I have no doubt that the mentoring program will successfully pave the way for our young talents to emerge as the leaders of tomorrow.”
