MCB continues to strengthen its position as an innovation leader in the payments space. The bank is further expanding its payments ecosystem to provide customers with a wide range of simple, secure and convenient payment options tailored to their everyday needs.
From mobile payments and contactless cards to QR solutions and online transactions, MCB has progressively built an integrated payment environment designed to give customers the flexibility to choose how they pay, whether in-store, online or while travelling. This approach reflects MCB’s commitment to supporting a seamless, secure and inclusive economy that is less dependent on cash, while enhancing the overall customer experience across all segments, including individuals, families and businesses.
MCB Juice, the Pioneer
Over the years, MCB has continuously expanded its payments offering. Launched in 2013, the MCB Juice mobile app is now the most widely used banking application in daily life. Other milestones include facilitating e-commerce and deploying the interoperable MauCAS QR code introduced by the Bank of Mauritius (BoM).
Combined with contactless card technology and mobile Tap to Pay solutions, these innovations have enabled faster, safer and more accessible transactions both in Mauritius and abroad, while helping merchants, particularly SMEs, accept digital payments easily and confidently.
Over the past five years, the proportion of cash usage compared to digital payments among MCB retail customers has fallen from 46% in 2021 to 25% in April 2026. This is a strong indicator that customers are increasingly embracing digital payment methods.
Introduction of Apple Pay
As part of this ongoing evolution, MCB is now introducing Apple Pay in Mauritius, further enhancing its already extensive range of payment solutions.
Available to MCB customers holding Visa or Mastercard cards, Apple Pay enables secure and contactless payments using an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac. Whether shopping in-store or online, customers can enjoy a seamless payment experience that eliminates the need for physical cards or cash.
By integrating Apple Pay into its ecosystem, MCB reinforces its commitment to providing customers with greater choice and control over how they manage their payments, while aligning with global standards in digital commerce.
The solution is fully integrated into the existing payments infrastructure, allowing merchants already equipped with contactless terminals to accept Apple Pay effortlessly.
In addition, MCB’s online merchants will now be able to offer Apple Pay, providing customers with more payment choices while increasing conversion rates. Online payments can be completed quickly and securely without manually entering card details, thanks to authentication through Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode.
Accelerating Adoption

“Today, payments are no longer limited to a single method. It is about giving customers the freedom to choose what works best for them in every situation. By enabling Apple Pay in Mauritius, we are expanding secure, tokenised digital payments that integrate naturally into everyday life while supporting the island’s continued transition towards a more inclusive, resilient and future-ready payments ecosystem.”
