KARE launch adds a touch of sparkle to Le Monde de la Maison in Mauritius

German retailer KARE sashayed its way into the Mauritian marketplace for interiors through the launch of its store inside Le Monde de la Maison at Tribeca Mall on 10 November. The CEO of Le Monde de la Maison, Andrew Cohen, welcomed Julia Schönhofen, the daughter of KARE’s co-Founder and CEO Peter Schönhofen, as the guest of honour for the grand opening.

With its ‘Joy of living’ slogan the company markets unconventional furnishing under its own KARE brand. Today the company counts more than 200 shops in almost 50 countries on four continents.

In his opening remarks, Andrew Cohen, CEO of Le Monde de la Maison and Courts Mammouth, welcomed Julia Schönhofen as the guest of honour and thanked guests for joining the celebration. He highlighted that “KARE is an internationally recognised design brand, known for its unique style of furniture and its interior décor collections.”

And we can’t wait to introduce this internationally famous brand to Mauritian homes. As always, our mission is to improve Mauritians’ lives with exceptional furniture and accessories, for people to make their homes as unique as they are. And now, with KARE Mauritius, we will be able to achieve this for more and more homes in this beautiful island.”

Julia Schönhofen: Mauritius is a great fit with a lively brand like KARE

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Julia Schönhofen said she was happy to open the company’s first store in Mauritius. She mentioned that KARE stands for ‘joy of living’ and that the event was about “exploring everything, thinking how to decorate your home and make your home your best place”.

Explaining KARE’s decision to set up in Mauritius in the margins of the event, Julia commented that “Mauritius is a vibrant and exciting island, where the joy of living is really home, I can tell just by being present. I can see a great fit with such a lively brand like KARE. People here really show joy of living and can enrich their homes with KARE”.

In terms of KARE’s tie-up with Le Monde de la Maison, she highlighted that “with Mr Cohen we have found the perfect partner. He is an experienced partner in the furniture industry. He has the right knowledge and also the right passion, so we are very confident this will be a success”.

Decorations take centre stage

The launch ceremony was followed by a unique fashion show, where models adorned in gold glitter and white togas took to the red carpet to showcase a range of decorations to brighten up Mauritian homes, including statues and decorations featuring model faces, hands, shells, animals and fruits, among others.

The KARE store is now open inside Le Monde de La Maison in Tribeca Mall in Mauritius.
